I have spent twenty years working with ‘troubled’ teenagers. All had been removed from school permanently. I have the best job in the world, because I interact with these amazing young people every day.

A while ago I wrote a post about this incident. We were walking towards the park with my little girl. There was a group of three teenagers near the swing. They had done their usual swung the chain over and over the bar so the seat was up the top. My partner said ‘come on we can take her to another swing.’

My response was no it’s okay we can go on this one. I walked up to them smiling and said, ‘do us a favour guys can you get the swing down, little one loves a swing.’

A minute later they were climbing up the sides and untied the swing for us. I thanked them, they then helped little one onto the swing and played with her. One even told the others off for swearing. They reacted to me in the way I reacted to them. The look on the other parents faces was a picture.

Thanks for writing this it is nice to know there are other people in the world that make an effort with these complicated souls.
